In a Presbyterian church and in accordance with the Book of Order, the Session is responsible for governance of a church. Bath Church is governed by a council of Elders, called a Session, who are selected by the congregation and ministerially ordained. The Session is charged with providing for the worship, ministry, and mission of the church.
The committees are:
- Pastoral Search Committee
- Finance Committee
- Congregational Care
- Media Committee
- Nominating Committee
- Fellowship Committee
- Worship Committee
- Mission Committee
When needed the Interim Pastor Search Committee works with the Presbytery to hire an interim pastor. Our Committee on Ministry representative helps keep in touch with the committee, and will moderate our session meetings during this time of transition to a new Minister. There is plenty of team communication for the Interim Committee as well as Session. Meanwhile we enjoy pulpit supply which is a blessing to all of us.
The Finance Committee is lead by our Treasurer and supported by the Financial Secretary.
The Media Committee produces and publishes the month newsletter, The Church Mouse. The committee also oversees the church's website, www.BathChurch.org, which has recently recovered from a hibernatory hiatus and is now actively under development. Another avenue of communication managed by the Media Committee is the marquee at the church parking lot entrance. Its short message length inspires even the experienced Twitterer to new heights of hai ku - / Enjoy Bath Fellowship / Harvest Breakfast and Bazaar / Saturday and Sunday /.
Nominating Committee members are selected and convened as needed to put members into nomination for open or soon to expire terms of Elders.
Let us concentrate on the things which make for harmony and growth of our fellowship together. (Romans 14:19)
Fellowship is an important part of life in the Bath Church family. God calls each of us to participate in different ways of discipleship with each other and our community. We give thanks first to Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. He guides us with His redemptive love. Things grow and change; that is part of this life in which we participate. Be of a grateful heart.
The Worship Committee tends to all things surrounding Worship at Bath Church - securing a pulpit supply minister when ours is unavailable, coordinating seasonal decorations for the sanctuary, preparing elements for Sacrament, preparing the program and bulletin, and many other aspects of Worship life.
The Mission Committee is in the service of God. Check back at this site for updates as information becomes available.
